2019 Mini-Camps

Ridgeville Park District offers a variety of one-week camps in the summertime. Many of the mini camps are staffed with your children's favorite directors and caounselors, and others are partnerships with different youth organizations. Most of these camps take place in the afternoons from 1-4pm (but please read specific times and options for each individual camps).

TO REGISTER FOR EXTENDED CARE:

Extended care activities are available before morning camps from 7:30-9am and after afternoon camp from 4-6pm for $3/hour. CLICK HERE to print extended care registration form (TBD). You can mail-in the registration form OR bring the form with check or cash to the office on June 5, 2018 (the first day of camp). Contact programs@ridgeville.org with any questions or call (847) 869-5640.

REFUND POLICY: There is a $50 fee for refunds, and refunds will only be issued in case of extenuating circumstances. All refund requests must be made to the Director of Parks and Recreation. Please allow at least four weeks for refund if requested. 

 

Science Camp

For Kids Age 6-10

Location: Field House at Kamen Park East

Discover your neighborhood! Have you ever investigated the enormous world just outside your home?  See what you walk past everyday in a new way. Incredible spiders, plants growing where they shouldn’t, rocks made by humans and by nature- each of these have a place in science and a story that go with them. Campers will use their inner scientist to discover both!

Stories in Action!

For Kids Age 6-10

Date/Time: 2019 TBD

Fee: RPD Residents $125 / Non-Residents $150

Location: Field House at Kamen Park East

Kids take their stories from the page to the stage! First, they'll imagine characters, scenes and events using creative writing skills. Then, together they will perform each story for the group. Combine literacy learning with creativity while having fun!  

 

Sports Camp

For Kids Age 6-10

Fee: RPD Residents $150 / Non-Residents $125

Location: Field House at Kamen Park East

Do you have a hard time choosing a favorite sport because you love playing them all? This camp is perfect for you! Come play soccer, basketball, lacrosse, capture the flag, and more! Counselors will lead kids through a fun, heart-pumping week of games and teamwork.

 

Renegade Writers' Camp

For Kids Age 10-12

Location: Field House at Kamen Park East

Fee: Res $125 / Non-Res $150

Do you ever wish your writing could break free from the confines of the classroom? This summer, send the five-paragraph essay packing, and rediscover the joy of writing in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. Even if you don’t think of yourself as a writer, this camp will make it easy, with innovative techniques, games, and prompts to help you follow your imaginative and creative impulses. Find out what it means to do a word collage, spin a story spiral, or “lasso the moon.” Within five days, you’ll create a whole portfolio of stories, poems, and ideas. You’ve got something to say, and we want to hear it. Don't let summer slip away without leaving your mark! 

 

Wizards' Camp

For Kids Age 6-10

Location: Field House at Kamen Park East

Want to brush up on your wand-making skills? In this camp, kids will dive into the world of magic and wizardry with exciting art projects, games, and activities such as potion-making, divination, spell casting, and broomball! If you’re a fan of the most famous boy-wizard on earth, you’ll love this camp! 

 

Tutus & Tiaras

Ballet Camp

For Kids Age 3-5

Date/Time: 2019 TBD

Location: Community House at Ridgeville Park

Fee: RPD Residents $110 / Non-Residents $135

All the things your tiny dancer loves about Miss Laura's Fairy Ballet and Boys Bop class is now being offered as a CAMP! Girls and boys (preschool age) will enjoy a creative movement/pre-ballet class, story, craft and snack during this one week mini camp! Children can wear dance attire or comfortable play clothes. Ballet shoes are not required but play shoes, dress up shoes and play slippers are not permitted for safety reasons. This is a drop-off camp but parents, families and friends are invited to a demonstration at 10:45 on the last day of the camp.

I'm a Dancer! Ballet/Jazz Combo Camp

For Kids Age 5-8

Location: Community House at Ridgeville Park

Fee: Res $125 / Non-Res $150

This mini camp will include a ballet class, jazz class, craft and snack for boys and girls ages 5-8. Ballet class will focus on learning basic classical dance technique as well as creative movement. Jazz class will focus on rhythm, contemporary movement style that incorporates aspects of the ballet technique and choreography to popular well-loved music. All activities will promote positive self-esteem, body image, creative expression and healthy developmental movement patterns. Children can wear dance attire or comfortable play clothes. Ballet and/or jazz shoes are not required but play shoes, dress up shoes and play slippers are not permitted for safety reasons. This is a drop off camp but parents, families and friends are invited to a demonstration at 3:15 on the last day of the camp.

Intro to S.T.E.M. with LEGO®

For Kids Age 5-7

Give your imagination a boost with tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Build engineer-designed projects such as: Cities, Garbage Trucks, Catamarans, and Dinosaurs. Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment.

S.T.E.M. Challenge with LEGO®

For Kids Age 8-12

Location: Field House at Kamen Park East

Fee: RPD Resident $165 / Non-Res $190

Gear up your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as: Forklifts, Houseboats, Mini Golf Courses, and the London Tower Bridge Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment.
