2017 Winter/Spring S.T.E.A.M. Workshop

Details: Wondering what to do on District 65 school improvement half-days? This workshop series is a fun, hands-on way to engage with STEM concepts with an added Arts component. We will explore a variety of exciting topics that your child won't want to miss!
*Transportation is not provided by the park district. Students can come early with lunch from home to eat.
Workshop Dates and Themes
Date: FULL Wednesday, January 18th (12:30pm-4pm) Workshop 1: Tag Ur It Part 1
Students will learn how to use CAD software and a laser cutter to design a 3D laser tag board game. They will learn basic trigonometry and angle of incidence principles to create their interactive toy. This is a two part workshop. Fee: Res $30 / Non-Res $35
Date: FULL Wednesday, February 1st (12:30pm-4pm) Workshop 2: Tag Ur It Part 2
Students will assemble their laser cut board game from the previous workshop, make adjustments, and test out their game with other students. Fee: Res $30 / Non-Res $35
Date: Wednesday, March 1st (12:30-4pm) Workshop 3: Prepare 2 Dye Part 1
Students will learn Shibori dye techniques and discover the history and chemistry behind natural dyes. Fee: Res $30 / Non-Res $35
Date: Wednesday, May 3rd (12:30-4pm) Workshop 4: Prepare 2 Dye Part 2
Students will assemble their Shibori fabric into a small quilt. Fee: Res $30 / Non-Res $35
