Ridgeville Park District Year-Round Basketball Rim Schedule 
(board consensus established in 2014)

March 1st: Rims are left up around the clock

June 1st: Rims will come down on a daily basis at 8:00pm and put back up at 9:00am the following day

September 15th: Rims are left up around the clock

November 20th: Rims come down for the winter

This schedule was created by the Park Director and the Board of Commissioners in an attempt to give the members of our community that wish to utilize the courts enough daily play time in the warm weather months, and also respect the members of our community who wish to rest after 8pm.

We thank the Ridgeville community for your compromise and commitment to building an equitable, shared space that appreciates the needs of every neighbor.

You can request financial assistance for Ridgeville programs by indicating your need when registering online, or you may fill out a form in our office at 908 Seward St. Click here to download form.

Ten-Class Sampler Cards

The 10-Class Sampler Card is an EXCELLENT option for those want to take advantage of what RPD has to offer, but whose busy schedules keep them from committing to a full class session. The Sampler Card is valid for one FULL YEAR from the purchase date and lets you try out as many different classes as you'd like! 

Fee: $125 ($25 discount for Seniors 60+)

Register online or in-person for your sampler card. Then, visit the office at 908 Seward St. to pick up your card and start enjoying your favorite classes! Questions? Email programs@ridgeville.org.

FAIRY BALLET WITH ME

For Kids Age 18-36 Months & Caregivers

Sessions: Fall I, Fall II, Winter

Day/Time: Monday 9:30-10am

                 Tuesday 10-10:30am

Instructor: Laura Downey

Fee: RPD Residents $65 / Non-Residents $75

Not quite old enough for Fairy Ballet or quite ready for a drop off class? Try Fairy Ballet with Me! This class is a first creative movement and ballet class for young children and a caregiver. Developmentally appropriate creative movement focused on gross motor skill development, imagination and story exploration will get your child moving through the space, becoming aware of his or her body, exploring creative impulses, and preparing for ballet basics. Caregivers are expected to stay and participate in class as a support to their child though caregiver movement through space is not a requirement. This class will culminate with a studio performance for family and friends. 

 

Fairy Ballet 

For Kids Age 2-4

Sessions: Fall I, Fall II, Winter

Day/Time: Tuesday 9:30-10am (age 2-3) 

                Wednesday 9:30-10am (age 2-3)

                  Thursday 4-4:30pm (age 3-4)

Instructor: Laura Downey 

Fee: RPD Resident $65 / Non-Resident $75

Fairy Ballet combines basic ballet technique with creative movement, imagination, and story exploration. This class will get your child moving through the space, feeling comfortable with his or her body, exploring creative impulses, and learning ballet preparation basics. This class will culminate with a studio performance for family and friends. *Children must be potty-trained to participate. 

 

Intro to Ballet  

For Kids Age 5-6

Sessions: Fall I, Fall II, Winter

Day/Time: Tuesday 4:45-5:30pm 

                  Wednesday 4:00-4:45pm

Instructor: Laura Downey

Fee: RPD Resident $70 / Non-Resident $80

Basic ballet movement, technique and vocabulary are explored in this class through creative movement, stories and dance games. Participants will learn basic ballet positions, fundamental movement, coordination and begin working at the ballet barre. This class will culminate with a studio performance for family and friends. Ballet shoes are not required though recommended. Dress up slippers are not permitted.

 

Ballet I

For Kids Age 6-8

Session: Fall I, Fall II, Winter

Day/Time: Thursday 4:30-5:15pm

Instructor: Laura Downey

Fee: RPD Resident $70 /  Non-Resident $80

This class will explore the foundations of ballet technique for both boys and girls. Participants will build their strength and flexibility, develop their coordination, and learn the basic positions associated with successful ballet execution. This class will culminate with a studio performance at the end of the session. Ballet slippers, leotards and tights are required.

 

Ballet II

For Kids Age 7-10

Session: Fall I, Fall II, Winter

Day/Time: Wednesday 4:45-5:30pm

Instructor: Laura Downey

Fee: RPD Resident $70 /  Non-Resident $80

Ballet II will further explore the foundations of ballet technique for boys and girls. Children will continue to build strength and flexibility, develop coordination and integration of movement, and learn basic positions, postures and movement associated with successful ballet execution. Beyond Ballet I foundations, students will also learn the French vocabulary of classical ballet, explore their personal aesthetics of movement and learn about historical and contemporary ballets. Students registered for Ballet II are encouraged (but not required) to also enroll in Ballet I to build strength and endurance for more complicated movements and prevent injury. Regardless of age, children must have prior ballet technique training for this class. Questions can be directed to the instructor.

 

Boys Bop

For Kids Age 2-5

Sessions: Fall I, Fall II, Winter

Day/Time: Monday 10-10:30am

Instructor: Laura Downey

Fee: RPD Resident $65 / Non-Resident $75

Finally - a boys' only class! Toddler boys will explore and develop their mastery of movement. Basic locomotor and foundational movement skills including safely falling and getting up, jumping, acceleration/deceleration,balance and use of personal/shared space will be explored using creative play, creative movement and tumbling activities based on developmental movement principles. The goal of the class is to help boys embrace moving however they like to move safely and with consideration of others while gaining mastery of their bodies. Parents may be in the room for the first few classes but will be asked to transition out of the room. *Children must be potty-trained to participate. 

 

Little Taps

For Kids Age 3-4

Sessions: Fall I, Fall II, Winter

Day/Time: Monday 5-5:30pm

                  Wednesday 10-10:30am

Fee: RPD Residents $65 / Non-Residents $75

Does your child love to dance and express LOUDLY or with rhythm? Little Taps is the perfect class! Children will learn tap fundamentals while exploring creative movement, expression and rhythm games. Tap shoes are not required and are not provided through the part district. Children must be potty trained to participate. This class will culminate with a studio performance for family and friends. 


Youth Tap

For Kids Age 3-8

Sessions: Fall I, Fall II, Winter

Day/Time: Monday 5:30-6:15pm (age 5-7)

                 Tuesday 4-4:45pm (age 4-5)

Intro to Tap sizzles with fun and energy! We will learn basic tap steps and terminology. This class with get your child moving through space and beginning to explore rhythm and coordination. *Children must be potty-trained to participate. 

 

The Imaginary Game After School

For Kids Age 8-14

Session: Fall II

Day/Time: Monday 4-6pm

Instructor: John Dalton of Imaginary Services

Fee: ALL $199

Evanston’s favorite summer camp is coming to Ridgeville Park after school this fall! The Imaginary Game is a live action role playing game. Make your flag; build your arms and armor; inhabit the world; reveal magic; taste sweet victory. This team-building program practices mindfulness and awareness, encouraging kids to explore their imagination and work together to create a world of adventure.

 

Intro to Sewing

For Kids Age 8-12

Session: Fall I, Fall II, Winter

Day/Time: Saturday 10-11am

Instructor: Courtney Lyons

Fee: RPD Residents $75 / Non-Residents $85

Join us to learn machine sewing and hand sewing in a fun and relaxed class. Students will complete several projects throughout the session while learning new skills and gaining creative confidence. All materials are provided. No experience necessary, all levels welcome
