Here's what's happening at Ridgeville...

Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, the Ridgeville Park District will be celebrating a figure in our community, Rick Marsh. His achievements will be acknowledged and honored at our board meeting on Thursday, February 11 at 7:45pm in the Ridgeville Community House at 908 Seward St.

Rick Marsh has lived in Evanston in the Ridgeville district for over 30 years and is a positive role model in the community. He had an exceptional basketball career at Manhattan College after transferring from the University of Nebraska. He played in the NBA for the Golden State Warriors. He then moved to Evanston with his wife Holly to raise their son.

This Black History Month, we recognize his service to the community through his volunteerism promoting equality for youth and supporting recreation. His volunteer involvement in the growth and development of Evanston's youth has been a driving commitment for the past 30 years.  As a 26 year member of the Fellowship of Afro-American Men Youth Basketball Program (FAAM), Rick has had the opportunity to coach, mentor and support countless young boys and men. He also served as the organizations president. His dedication to recreation and youth sports has been a consistent theme.  He served on the City of Evanston Park and Recreation Board for 8 years and served as president during his tenure. His mentorship to at-risk youth through the Curt’s Café Youth Development program, he has helped to give these young adults the training and support to impact their future.
