Youth Grow Team

More and more people are realizing that an urban environment can include space for growing vegetables and fruits. It’s also a great place to create small gardens for local wildlife to feed on nectar, berries or seeds.

Summer Employment for Teens at Ridgeville!

We're seeking motivated, team oriented, hard working teens for our 2024 Youth Grow Team! The team works from the beginning of June through the first week of August growing produce for donation (and to take home!) through our Urban Agriculture Program right here at Ridgeville Park District. Teens also learn basic and intermediate job skills development, leadership skills and environmental as well as social impacts of urban gardening, food sustainability and topics of the team's curiosities.

The program runs in partnership with the City of Evanston's Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP) so the following criteria apply:

  1. Applicants must be at least 14 years of age by the start of the program and obtain a work permit

  2. Applicants must live in zip codes 60202 or 60201

  3. Applicants MUST register and attend the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP) job fair on February 17, 2024
